TIDES
Like the fluctuation of the tides, I started this year at my lowest ebb. And, romantically, that’s my favorite tide time to visit the beach—when the shore is wider, the sand hot underfoot, the water distant but returning. Emotionally, though? Low tide can feel like walking barefoot across scorching sand. It burns. It blisters. It’s fucking unfair. It’s not our fault. And yet, here we are, still walking.

Picture a planet-sized lottery ticket where every blade of grass, every grain of sand, every drop of water represents a number. Somehow, against all odds, your number was picked. That’s the science of you—a miraculous accident of timing, biology, and cosmic chance…

THE HEALING POWER OF PLAY
From a psychological perspective, play is more than just fun—it’s essential for our mental and emotional well-being. Research shows that engaging in playful activities can reduce stress by lowering cortisol levels, our body’s primary stress hormone. When we play, our brains release endorphins, those feel-good chemicals that boost our mood and leave us feeling energized. It’s no wonder children seem to have endless energy—they’re tapping into a natural reservoir of joy and vitality through play.

CHEATING, TOXIC MONOGAMY AND DISCOVERING NEW RELATIONSHIP STYLES
…I was toxically monogamous- even the thought of a partner being with another person would cause me immense insecurity and jealousy, I’d feel a searing pain in my stomach if someone I was dating would even comment on another woman’s attractiveness, I would instantly compare myself and project my insecurity onto my romantic connections, the fear of being cheated on again was rife and I continued placing immense pressure on romantic partners to make me happy…

HOW DO WE HARNESS CREATIVITY?
How do people who have written, produced, or created any form of art, people that we would call ‘geniuses’ or ‘masters of their craft’ like Rick Rubin (pictured), manage to see a project to the end?
Is there a formula? Is it a gift? Is there methods to home in on our creativity?
I turned to authors, artists, podcasts, and motivational speakers to understand how to cultivate the creative flow so many of us seek and how to see projects through, here are my findings amongst my personal reflections…

SLOW SUNDAY & CARROT CAKE
Reflections on my slow, self-care filled Sunday, the deliciousness and privilege of slowing down and the joy that comes from making things from scratch.

MORNINGS
I find myself sat some mornings, dreaming about having the ability to look at each tree amongst the millions that I see sprawled in their clusters, decorating and accentuating the mountains. As dawns light begins to intensify; turning from pastel orange and soft cloudy pinks, to richer contrasts, I imagine what it would be like if I had a superpower…
